Abstract

An agricultural commodity that is a promising economic source for farmers is chili plants. Chili plants are also very much needed for household needs as they add flavor to the food consumed, but often this commodity is threatened with crop failure due to pest attacks. Pests that often appear as nuisance animals (Hemiptera: Aleyrodidae). This whitefly pest can infect chili plants so that they contract necrosis or stem drying relatively quickly due to lack of water, the leaves turn yellow more quickly, and the leaf area decreases due to lack of nutrition.

The right step to overcome the whitefly infection in an environmentally friendly manner is to use an organic pesticide, ginger essential oil (Zingiber officinale). However, its use still has problems that can cause the death of the host plant because the essential oil pesticide is physically quite hot, so research needs to be done. It tests the effectiveness of pesticides on pest death rates and their effect on the continued growth of host plants. Testing the effectiveness of vegetable pesticides from a mixture of distilled water: and essential oils with several concentrations (5:5 mL, 6:4 mL, 7:3 mL, 8:2 mL, 9:1 mL). The test showed that the mixture of concentration 1 showed good results, characterized by the death of the whitefly but did not hurt the host plant. This is inversely proportional to the pesticide mixture with concentrations of 2,3,4, and 5 because it hurts the whitefly and also the host plant.
