Papua Journal of Diplomacy and International Relations (PJDIR) is an open-access, peer-reviewed journal that aims to provide an international academic platform for scholarly discussions on issues concerning Melanesia and the Asia-Pacific region. Its scope includes, but is not limited to, topics such as Indonesia–Papua New Guinea border dynamics, the West Papuan conflict, the Melanesian Way, South Pacific affairs, the Indo-Pacific, regional conflicts, and other subjects related to diplomacy and international affairs.

The PJDIR is published by the International Relations Study Program, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Cenderawasih University, in collaboration with the Indonesian Association for International Relations (MoU) & (AIHII)

PJDIR has been accredited with a third grade of Science and Technology Index (SINTA 3) by the Indonesian Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemdikbudristek) since July 2023. Accreditation Number: 79/E/KPT/2023 is valid until the publication of PJDIR Vol. 5 No. 2, 2025. PJDIR has also been indexed in the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ).

This issue has been available online since 03 March 2025, as a Special Issue for the May edition. It is a selection of curated articles presented at the 15th Convention of the Indonesian Association for International Relations (VENNAS AIHII), held at Universitas Cenderawasih in Jayapura from October 8 to 11, 2024. The theme focuses on 'Contestation of Traditional and Non-Traditional Security Approaches in the Indo-Pacific Region.' The eight articles in this issue are authored or co-authored by 18 scholars affiliated with institutions across Indonesia.
